The anatomy and physiology of sexual arousal

The central organ of sexual arousal is the limbic system, a part of the brain situated deep inside and far down in the cerebrum or great brain. The limbic system is connected by nerve tracks to higher brain areas responsible for thought processes and with nerve tracks going down through the spinal cord to the sexual organs and other sexually excitable body areas.

Sexual thought processes trigger signals to be sent to the limbic system that then gets excited, The escitement in the limbic system trigger signals back to the higher brain areas that stimulate even more sexual thought processes. This signalling back and forth excites the limbic system steadily more towards the orgasm.

Sexual thought processes will stimulate sexual actions. These actions stimulate sensorial bodies in the genitals and other sexual body parts.

Sexual body parts that are stimulated will send signals up to the limbic system. Also these signals trigger excitement in the limbic system. The excited limbic system then sends signals back to the sexual body parts that react by erection and other bodily excitement reactions. Then even more signals are sendt up to the limbic system that gets steadily more excited towards the orgasmic climax.
